Baldwin Scientific Instruments Companys Human Resource Management Human asset the executives is worried about the upkeep of good relations among representatives in an association. It is included four primary angles: securing, improvement, inspiration and maintenance.Advertising We will compose a custom contextual analysis test on Baldwin Scientific Instruments Company’s Human Resource Management explicitly for you for just $16.05 $11/page Learn More The examination of Baldwin Scientific Instruments determines that there are different human asset issues in the organization. The main issue is separation of the Vietnamese constructing agents by the Latino administrators. Furthermore, there is a part of nepotism in light of the fact that the two Latino bosses are kin. The third issue is the absence of strategy set up that limits correspondence to just a single authority language. The two Latino chiefs communicate in Spanish behind the backs of the Vietnamese constructing agents. Furthermore, there is overdependence on the Vietnamese constructing agents, and these issues have prompted helpless worker relations in the organization. The reasons for the issues experienced at Baldwin Scientific Instruments are a few. The first is absence of harsh administration arrangements. The top level administration in an organization ought to define the accompanying approaches in the association like thinking of the official language of correspondence at the working environment. The subsequent reason is the absence of an appropriate enrollment procedure and cooperation among the representatives. In addition, there is an absence of correspondence between the chiefs and the constructing agents since this association has not set up measures to manage matters of HR (Muchinsky 66). The issues referenced above have their answers, for example, sanctioning of a strategy that limits correspondence to legitimate language. The benefits of this incorporate progressively compelling correspondence between the workers. Equity is improved in the organizat ion, and it checks the issue of ethnicity or prejudice in the given association. The burdens of sanctioning just a single authority language of correspondence are that a few representatives may see the strategy as one-sided, subsequently diminishing their confidence. The second answer for the issues at Baldwin Scientific Instruments is connecting with representatives in group building exercises. The benefits of group building incorporate upgraded representative connections, progressively viable correspondence between the workers. It likewise upgrades coordination of exercises in the association, in this manner expanding the productivity of the employees.Advertising Looking for contextual analysis on business financial matters? Moreover, it requires to be done routinely and may be very including for the organization (Ulrich 90). The third arrangement is connecting with representatives in preparing exercises. The benefits of preparing incorporate such results. The proficiency of the workers is expanded, they comprehend their set sets of expectations well and study the strategies of the association. The detriments of preparing are that it is expensive to lead just as it is tedious to prepare all the workers in the association since connecting with the representatives in preparing exercises probably won't be possible in certain associations. The fourth arrangement is the foundation of a human asset office in the business substance. The benefits of setting up a human asset office is that it will guarantee that the issues concerning representatives are tended to on schedule, the laborers get motivating forces as suggested by their areas of expertise and the individuals who are persevering ar e remunerated. The impediments of a human asset division incorporate the following realities. It is extravagant to set up a division as it probably won't be attainable for little ventures. The best elective that will take care of the issues at Baldwin Scientific Instruments is to build up a human asset office in the association. This will take care of a large portion of the issues that the organization has been encountering. The positive effects of building up a human asset office are numerous when contrasted with the negative. The first is that the enlistment and determination division will be available at the organization. This will empower a reasonable procedure in recruiting of representatives since meetings will be directed and the coordination of exercises will be improved. The subsequent advantage will be the foundation of a representative relations division. This will aid different ways by guaranteeing work law consistence, arrangement of worker handbooks and migration of ou tplacement of administrations. The third advantage would be an improvement in work force strategies. The different advantages of faculty arrangements incorporate improved approach correspondence, improved record keeping of workers and improved HR data frameworks (Armstrong 67). The fourth bit of leeway of a human asset office is the foundation of a remuneration and advantages division. This will aid the organization of pay rates and wages, just as arrangement of motivating force pay, protection to workers, retirement plans and excursion leave administration.Advertising We will compose a custom contextual analysis test on Baldwin Scientific Instruments Company’s Human Resource Management explicitly for you for just $16.05 $11/page Learn More The fifth result is that it will prompt the foundation of a preparation and improvement office. The advantages of this division are the arrangement of direction to the workers, arrangement of aptitudes preparing and arrangement of vocation improvement programs. Execution of this arrangement ought to be done at Baldwin Scientific Instruments. Bill Baldwin as the author of the organization ought not be managing Tran’s complaint, which is a constructing agent of the organization. The job of Bill is to detail the strategies of the association. The complaints of the constructing agents ought to be tended to by the HR division and not the author of the organization. What's more, the Latino chiefs ought to be checked and if their employing strategy was unjustifiable, they ought to have been excused. The strategy of the organization ought to limit nepotism and energize a work procedure that is free and reasonable (Rhonda 44). Were I Mr. Baldwin, I would have asked about the circumstance from both the Latino directors and the Vietnamese constructing agents as this would give me the internal parts of the two sides of the story. As a momentary arrangement, I will move one of the Latino administrators to another division to check the issue of talking native language while working. All the more along these lines, I would attempt to utilize faculty from different foundations not simply Vietnamese and Latinos. It is of most extreme significance for an association to be impartial and not one-sided regarding ethnicity. The recruiting strategy of the firm ought to be revised to incorporate promotions of opening, shortlisting followed by meeting of competitors and afterward at last employing and leading preparing exercises for the workers. The workforce of Baldwin Scientific Instruments is different since it is established of different nationalities. The issue of assorted variety is experienced when the representatives from various foundations are set to cooperate. This isn't a weakness since it very well may be managed by moving a portion of the workers to different offices inside the organization (Wright 40).Advertising Searching for contextual analysis on business financial aspects? How about we check whether we can support you! Get your first paper with 15% OFF Find out More Mr. Baldwin should top off staff opening in a human asset office in the organization at the earliest opportunity. This will empower him to appoint obligations, and all the while, he will have the option to consider every single representative responsible for their activities. What's more, the productivity, resolve and aptitudes of the representatives will be overwhelmingly improved since the issues confronting the company’s workers will be tended to, and thusly, this will improve the representative relations at Baldwin Scientific Instruments. How to Find the Mean of a Set of Numbers Formula and Examples

Instructions to Find the Mean of a Set of Numbers Formula and Examples SAT/ACT Prep Online Guides and Tips Is it true that you are taking the SAT or ACT and need to ensure you realize how to function with informational collections? Or then again perhaps you’re hoping to revive your memory for a secondary school or school math class. Whatever the case, it’s significant you realize how to locate the mean of an informational index. We'll clarify what the mean is utilized for in math, how to compute the mean, and what issues about the mean can resemble. What Is a Mean and What Is It Used For? The mean, or number-crunching mean, is the normal estimation of a lot of numbers. All the more explicitly, it's the proportion of a focal or normal propensity in a given arrangement of information. Mean-regularly essentially called the normal- is a term utilized in measurements and information examination. Also, it's not unordinary to hear the words signify or normal utilized with the expressions mode, middle, and range, which are different techniques for figuring the examples and regular qualities in informational indexes. Quickly, here are the meanings of these terms: Mode-the worth that shows up most as often as possible in an informational collection Middle the center estimation of an informational collection (when masterminded from most reduced an incentive to most elevated) Range-the contrast between the most noteworthy and littlest qualities in an informational collection So what is the motivation behind the mean precisely? In the event that you have an informational collection with a wide scope of numbers, realizing the mean can give you a general feeling of how these numbers could basically be assembled into a solitary agent esteem. For instance, if you’re a secondary school understudy preparing to take the SAT, you may be intrigued to realize the present mean SAT score. Realizing the mean score gives you an unpleasant thought of how most understudies taking the SAT will in general score on it. The most effective method to Find the Mean: Overview To locate the math mean of an informational index, you should simply include all the numbers in the informational collection and afterward isolate the total by the all out number of qualities. Let’s take a gander at a model. State you’re given the accompanying arrangement of information: $$6, 10, 3, 27, 19, 2, 5, 14$$ To locate the mean, you’ll first need to include all the qualities in the informational index this way: $$6 + 10 + 3 + 27 + 19 + 2 + 5 + 14$$ Note that you don’t need to revamp the qualities here (however you may on the off chance that you wish to) and can essentially include them in the request in which they’ve been introduced to you. Next, record the aggregate of the considerable number of qualities: $$6 + 10 + 3 + 27 + 19 + 2 + 5 + 14 = o86$$ The last advance is to take this entirety (86) and partition it by the quantity of qualities in the informational index. Since there are eight unique qualities (6, 10, 3, 27, 19, 2, 5, 14), we'll be separating 86 by 8: $$86/8 = 10.75$$ The mean, or normal, for this arrangement of information is 10.75. Step by step instructions to Calculate a Mean: Practice Questions Since you realize how to locate the normal in other words, how to compute the mean of a given arrangement of information it’s time to test what you’ve realized. In this segment, we'll give you four math addresses that include finding or utilizing the mean. The initial two inquiries are our own, while the subsequent two are authentic SAT/ACT questions; accordingly, these two will require somewhat more idea. Look past the inquiries for the appropriate responses and answer clarifications. Practice Question 1 Locate the mean of the accompanying arrangement of numbers: 5, 26, 9, 14, 49, 31, 109, 5. Practice Question 2 You are given the accompanying rundown of numbers: 4, 4, 2, , 6, $X$, 1, 3, 2. The number juggling mean is 4. What is the estimation of $X$? Practice Question 3 The rundown of numbers 41, 35, 30, $X, Y$, 15 has a middle of 25. The method of the rundown of numbers is 15. To the closest entire number, what is the mean of the rundown? 20 25 26 27 30 Source: 2018-19 Official ACT Practice Test Practice Question 4 At a primate hold, the mean age of all the male primates is 15 years, and the mean age of every single female primate is 19 years. Which of the accompanying must be valid about the mean age $m$ of the consolidated gathering of male and female primates at the primate save? $m = 17$ $m 17$ $m 17$ $15 m 19$ Source: The College Board The most effective method to Find the Average: Answers + Explanations Once you’vetried out the four practice inquiries above, it’s time to think about your answers and see whether you comprehend not exactly how to locate the mean of information yet in addition how to utilize what you think about the intend to all the more adequately approach any math addresses that manage midpoints. Here are the responses to the four practice inquiries above: Practice Question 1: 31 Practice Question 2: 3 Practice Question 3: C. 26 Practice Question 4: D. $15 m 19$ Continue perusing to see the appropriate response clarification for each question. Practice Question 1 Answer Explanation Locate the mean of the accompanying arrangement of numbers: 5, 26, 9, 14, 49, 31, 109, 5. This is a clear inquiry that just pose to you to compute the math mean of a given informational collection. To begin with, include all the numbers in the informational collection (recall that you don’t need toarrangethem all together from least to most elevated possibly do this if you’re attempting to locate the middle): $$5 + 26 + 9 + 14 + 49 + 31 + 109 + 5 = o248$$ Next, take this total and separation it by the quantity of qualities in the information set. Here, there are eight all out qualities, so we'll isolate 248 by 8: $$248/8 = 31$$ The mean and right answer is 31. Practice Question 2 Answer Explanation You are given the accompanying rundown of numbers: 4, 4, 2, , 6, $X$, 1, 3, 2. The number juggling mean is 4. What is the estimation of $X$? For this inquiry, you’re basically working in reverse: you definitely know the mean and now should utilize this information to assist you with unraveling for the missing worth, $X$, in the informational collection. Review that to locate the mean, you include all the numbers in a set and afterward separate the whole by the absolute number of qualities. Since we realize the mean is 4, we’ll start by duplicating 4 by the quantity of qualities (there are nine separate numbers here, including $X$): $$4 * 9 = 36$$ This gives us the entirety of the informational index (36). Presently, the inquiry turns into a variable based math issue, in which we should simply improve and tackle for $X$: $$4 + 4 + 2 + 6 + X + 1 + 3 + 2 = 36$$ $$33 + X = 36$$ $$X = 3$$ The right answer is 3. Careful discipline brings about promising results! Practice Question 3 Answer Explanation The rundown of numbers 41, 35, 30, $X, Y$, 15 has a middle of 25. The method of the rundown of numbers is 15. To the closest entire number, what is the mean of the rundown? 20 25 26 27 30 This precarious looking math issue originates from an official ACT practice test, so you can anticipate that it should be somewhat less immediate than your normal number juggling mean issue. Here, we’re given an informational collection with two obscure qualities: 41, 35, 30, $X, Y$, 15 We’re likewise given two basic snippets of data: The mode is 15 The middle is 25 To settle for the mean of this informational index, we should utilize all the data we’ve been given and will likewise need to realize what the mode and middle are. As an update, the mode is the worth that shows up most every now and again in an informational index, while the middle is the center an incentive in an informational collection (when the sum total of what esteems have been masterminded from least to most noteworthy). Since the mode is 15, this must imply that the worth 15 shows up in any event twice in the informational index (at the end of the day, a larger number of times than some other worth shows up). Thus, we can say supplant either $X$ or $Y$ with 15: $$41, 35, 30, X, 15, 15$$ We’re additionally told that the middle is 25. To locate the middle, you should first rearrangethe informational collection all together from most reduced an incentive to most elevated worth. Sincethe middle is more than 15 however under 30, we should put $i X$ between these two qualities. Here’s what we get when we modify our qualities from least to most noteworthy: $$15, 15, X, 30, 35, 41$$ There are six qualities altogether, (counting $X$) implying that the middle will be the number precisely somewhere between the third and fourth qualities in the information set.In short,25 (the middle) must come somewhere between $X$ and 30. This implies $X$ must rise to 20, since that would take care of it 5 from 20 and 5 away from 30 (or somewhere between the two qualities). We presently have a total informational collection with no obscure qualities: $$15, 15, 20, 30, 35, 41$$ All we need to do currently is utilize these qualities to illuminate for the mean. Start by including them all up: $$15 + 15 + 20 + 30 + 35 + 41 = 156$$ At last, partition the whole by the quantity of qualities in the informational collection (that’s six): $$156/6 = 26$$ The right answer is C. 26. Practice Question 4 Answer Explanation At a primate save, the mean age of all the male primates is 15 years, and the mean age of every single female primate is 19 years. Which of the accompanying must be valid about the mean age $m$ of the joined gathering of male and female primates at the primate hold? $m = 17$ $m 17$ $m 17$ $15 m 19$ This training issue is an official SAT Math practice question from the College Board site. For this math question, you’re not expected to illuminate for the mean yet should rather utilize what you think around two intends to clarify what the mean of the bigger gathering could be. In particular, we're being asked how we can utilize these two way to communicate, in arithmetical terms, the mean age ($i m$) forbothmale and female primates. Here’s what we know: first, the mean age of every single male primate is 15 years. Also, the mean age of every single female primate is 19 years. This implies that, in general, the female primates are more established than the male primates. Since the mean age for male primates (15) is lower than that for female primates (19), we realize that the mean age for the two gatherings can't coherently surpass 19 years. Likewise, in light of the fact that the mean age for female primates is more noteworthy than that for male primates, we realize that the mean age for both can't intelligently fall beneath 15 years. We are in this way left with the understanding that the mean age for the male and female primates together should be more prominent than 15 years

The entirety of that would make human consider halting or diminish deforestation exercises for keeping up our climate, easing back a dangerous atmospheric devation , shielding us from floods, and guaranteeing a solid and manageable providers of normal assets . Body What is Deforestation? Deforestation is the clearing or expulsion of trees from a zone of forest or woods for some, contrasting explanation generally commercialâ [1]â . What's more, it likewise characterized as the annihilation of a woods and changing the utilization of the landâ [2]â . Reasons for Deforestation There are various reasons for deforestation and they shift broadly from area to area. As it is known the greater part of deforestation cases occur by human practices. What's more, this thought is genuine , yet in addition there are some common makes drives deforestation, for example, : firs, regular disasters(floods). Agribusiness and Cattle-Raising The extension of steers raising has additionally been advanced by the World Bank and the Inter-American Development Bank, just as through expense motivating forces and has been firmly connected to land concentrationâ [3]â . Cows development in the Amazon over the most recent twelve years has been exceptional. During this period, the quantity of steers dramatically increased, from 26million in 1990 to 57 million of every 2002. In the process it has gone from speaking to 17.8% of Brazils all out steers group to very nearly 33% (see table 1). Table 1:INTERNET: Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE) www.ibge.gove.be The expression depicted how the quick development of meat sends out from Central America to inexpensive food chains in the United States was driving deforestation.â [4]â Dams and Megaprojects Typically the streams that stretch out to thousand hectares or more in the woods have the best opportunity to execute of significant foundation works ,, for example, building dams for getting hydroelectric vitality like what occur in Xingu waterway. It is evaluated that about all the Amazon woods will be pulverized during the principal half of this century if the current patterns are expanded with the execution of significant framework works in the region.â [5]â Mining In numerous tropical territories mining is a significant reason for deforestation and timberland corruption, creating countless social and natural effects. An ongoing report distributed by Third World Network-Africa gives a nitty gritty image of those minerals in the Wassa West District of Ghana. The principle minerals being mined in Ghana are gold, jewels, bauxite and manganese, however the most predominant mineral product is gold.â [6]â Impacts of Deforestation Deforestation is an issue with boundless impacts. Ecological issues: Hydrological Studies show that 99% of the water consumed by the roots climbs to the leaves and dissipates to keep the climate decent and dampness, accordingly if trees are chopped down it will cause into drier atmosphere. Another significant hydrological effect of deforestation is that the dirt ability to store water is influenced contrarily on the grounds that after deforestation , litter and other natural buildup of plants change soil properties to make it great stores of water. In any case, that water won't remain for long time since it will influenced by sun beams which will dissipate the greater part of groundwater. Climatic Trees speak to a thick spread that forestall the harming sun beams. What's more, as a result of deforestation ,the sun beams can profoundly enter into the backwoods than previously, if that happen trees will shrivels and passes on . Green house impact: On the off chance that woods is chopped down timberland and supplanted by vegetation with a littler biomass for each hectare, there is an arrival of CO2 by consuming or disintegration of woodland plant [7] .Tropical deforestation is a significant supporter of complete CO2 creation by human movement ( see table 2.4). TABLE 2 :Edward I. Newman, 2000: Applied Ecology Environmental Management. worldwide environmental change: green house gases ,woodland fires, and the Pollution that quickly developing alongside populace . Soil Dry season: Trees assimilate water through their underlying foundations and discharge it into the air. In the Amazon, half of the water is returned in the trees. In the event that the trees are expelled, the district becomes drier since it can't hold as much water. Landslides and disintegrations: Roots are existing to demonstrate the dirt ,and by deforestation The land becomes flimsy in light of the fact that their are no trees. consequently it causes disintegration. Efficient effects: In monetary terms, timberlands doesn't just give fuel and wood to industry, yet they additionally give the therapeutic plants , organic product trees and nuts, which is the principle wellspring of nourishment for backwoods occupants. Additionally The timberland have a huge monetary and natural advantages , it is a shelter for everybody, as they give them a sentiment of solace and genuine feelings of serenity, and give them the outside air and gains diversion that any modern offices can not give them , and flawlessly arranged. Accordingly, it gives huge financial incentive through the travel industry movement. Furthermore, when governments urge people to cut trees timber and practicing a specific financial exercises impeding to the earth, for example, set ablaze which prompts over-misuse of timberland riches and the disintegration of its condition. The outcomes of these practices are: populace relocation from these territories and the rise of the issues, for example, destitution, sick nesses, strife on nourishment, joblessness. Deforestation and biodiversity: Plants assorted variety Nobody can deny that we despite everything depend on plants or herbs in the treatment of certain infections, for example, hack, obstruction and some skin ailments. we will confirmation this by these two realities about rainforest plants : Rainforests at present give sources to one-fourth of todays meds, and 70 percent of the plants found to have anticancer properties are discovered distinctly in the rainforest.â [8]â Two medications got from a rainforest plant known as the Madagascar periwinkle, presently wiped out in the wild because of deforestation of the Madagascar rainforest, have expanded the odds of endurance for kids with leukemia from 20 percent to 80 percent. [9] (See figure 2)which is Madagascar periwinkle plant. Figure2: Book: William P. Cunningham, 1990: Environmental Science A GLOBAL CONCERN. Wm. C. Earthy colored Publishers, USA. Creature decent variety The human species has been the immediate or aberrant reasons for the majority of the eradications, particularly through natural surroundings decimation. At the point when Europeans initially showed up in the Hawaiian islands , there were sixty-eight remarkable winged animal species. of these, forty one currently are terminated, mostly on account of deforestation to make pineapple and sugarcane estates, resorts, and citiesâ [10]â . Fish decent variety In this viewpoint we show that evacuating timberland to assemble government ventures, for example, streets and dams, could ensure compromised natural surroundings. During the 1960s the Tennessee valley authority (TVA) declared expectations to dam the little Tennessee stream for power , flood control, and entertainment. rival battled against this venture for quite a long time, contending that the dam was not required , the expense was excessively high, the compensation was excessively low, and it demolished important woodland , untamed life natural surroundings, local American archeological destinations, and recreational, notable, and grand qualities. Parental Involvement Essay - 550 Words

Parental Involvement (Essay Sample) Content: Parental Involvement: Impact on a Childà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬s EducationStudentà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬s NameUniversity AffiliationParental Involvement: Impact on a Childà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬s EducationProviding for a family is a challenging task in todayà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬s world. Parents work long hours to pay bills and ensure that their children live a comfortable life. As a result, most parents return home tired and with little energy or time to follow up on their childrenà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬s educational progress. Some parents delegate all educational responsibilities to teachers. However, a child whose parents are supportive and involved in his or her education has a better chance of succeeding in school.Firstly, children whose parents play a critical role in their education score higher grades than those whose parents play a passive role or are absent altogether. This is because active parents encourage their children to succeed in school. They aid their children to do their homework and help teachers to identi fy and solve difficulties encountered in their childrenà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬s education. They also help their children choose subjects and courses they can pursue with passion and excellence. The involvement of parents in the education of their child also influences teachers (Jeynes, 2011). Since instructors play a significant role in rating and grading a child, "a high degree of parental involvement likely influences how the teacher perceives and even grades the child" (Jeynes, 2011, p. 55). According to Chance (1997), providing teachers with feedback about a childà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬s attitude and wellbeing can help the child achieve higher scores in IQ tests and vocabulary competence.Secondly, children with supportive parents are more disciplined than those with unsupportive parents. It is easy for parents who follow up on their childrenà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬s school activities to identify weaknesses that may lead to indiscipline. They can then discuss such weaknesses with teachers and develop strategies and mechanisms to rectify the weaknesses. As a result, children with such parents are less likely to develop disorderly behaviors. Children with supportive parents are less likely to abuse drugs and alcohol or to be suspended from school (Feuerstein, 2000). A study by Sui-Chu and Willms (1996) concluded that eighth graders whose parents were keen on their childà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬s schoolwork had reduced absenteeism and were less likely to drop out of school. Schools with many activities that require parental involvement report fewer incidences of violent or antisocial behavior (Connor, 2012).Thirdly, the involvement of a parent in a childà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬s education increases the childà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬s self-esteem. A high self-esteem, in turn, improves the childà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬s general wellbeing and their success in education (Feuerstein, 2000). Amsel (2013), who holds a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in sociology, wrote that limited parental involvement makes children feel unappreciated because there is no one to remind them that they are admirable, valuable and exciting. Children who feel unappreciated have negative thoughts and feelings about themselves (Amsel, 2013). This hampers the development of the childrenà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬s self-confidence and compromises their self-esteem (Amsel, 2013). Parents who want to improve their childà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬s esteem should not restrict their involvement to activities at school. Rather, "parental involvement in the education of children encompasses education-related activities both at home and school" (Onwughalu, 2011, p. 5). However, Amsel (2013) also warned parents that overindulgence in their childà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬s life may give the child little room to self-reflect and develop self-esteem.In conclusion, involvement of parents in their childrenà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬s education improves the childrenà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬s chances of succeeding in school. Children with caring and involved parents score higher grades in school. This is evident from various studies that show stu dents with supp...

The Resource Of Tap Water - 854 Words

Water is a seemingly abundant source that is vital for basic life on Earth. This element not only acts as a catalyst for human survival but is constitutional for certain entities of architecture such as passive water cooling or permeable paving. Water is a renewable natural resource, but society’s uneconomical uses of this depleting resource may lead to a future of drought. Generally speaking, one of the main types of water is tap water, which is water that undergoes through of series of treatments that maintains a governmentally accepted water quality. In this paper, the resource of tap water will be analysed through its process of its development, social expectations and inevitable consequences that underlie in this resource. Two hydrogen atoms and one oxygen atom are the basic components which fundamentally make up a water molecule. However with the process of water treatment, chemicals such as chlorine (Cl) or ozone (O3) are added to improve the safety and quality of the water (Water, 2014). Before the system of water treatment was adopted, drinking water was often contaminated with bacteria which led to water-borne illnesses such as cholera and typhoid. The Lottery, By Shirley Jackson - 1939 Words

Sarah Holt Mr. Porter AP English Literature and Composition 4 May, 2015 Every Man for Himself â€Å"It isn’t fair, it isn’t right!† screamed Tessie Hutchinson before she was stoned to death (Jackson). â€Å"The Lottery,† by Shirley Jackson, is a short story about a village that has an annual lottery; however, in this lottery, one does not win the typical million dollar prize. They win death. Mr. Summers, the man who organizes the lottery, calls each family, up to a box to draw papers. All the papers are blank, but there is one paper with a single, black dot on it. The family that draws the paper with a black dot marked in the middle draws a second time to see which individual, within that family, will be stoned to death. The family that is unfortunately selected is the Hutchinson family. This means that there are five potential victims: Mr. Hutchinson, the husband/father, Tessie Hutchinson, the wife/mother, Nancy Hutchinson, the daughter, Davy Hutchinson, the youngest son, and Bill Hutchinson Jr., the eldest son. After they al l select papers, Tessie Hutchinson is stoned to death for drawing the only marked paper. The time period in which Shirley Jackson lived suggests a psycho-analytical reading of â€Å"The Lottery† because the actions of the village reflect an everyman for himself, or mob, mentality. â€Å"The Lottery† was written in 1948, three years after the end of World War II. Problem Statement The development and growth of e-commerce and online retailing activities has contributed to the generation of potential advantages for both the retail institutions on one hand while also helped in servicing the needs of customers in a potential fashion thereby enhancing the level of customer experiences and satisfaction. However, the retail institutions tend to suffer from a growing level of security threat owing to the existence of unauthenticated purchasers or customers and also in terms of growth of different types of online security leaks amounting to growth of hacking activities, malware and virus intrusion and also the Denial of Service or DOS attacks. The e-commerce and online retailing companies are thereby required to continually innovate and develop on their security aspects for generation of effective services to customers in an enhanced fashion(Paulos, 2015). Research Aims and Objectives The research is required to be constructed for understanding the fashion in which e-commerce is incorporated in the activities of the retail institutions. It would thereby focus on understanding the different benefits and problems concerning the application of e-commerce in retailing. Further, it would also highlight on the different solutions that can be generated thereof for addressing the problems concerning e-commerce application in retail. Research Objectives The objectives of the research activity are highlighted as under. To understand the need for incorporating e-commerce in retail applications. To reflect on the benefits concerning the application of e-commerce in retail. To understand and evaluate on the problems concerning the incorporation of e-commerce in the retail sphere. To reflect on the potential solutions for addressing the problems concerning the application of e-commerce in retail. Justification of the Project The project earns justification in that it aims in understanding the emergence and growth of different security issues concerning the online retailing activities conducted by the different e-commerce retailing institutions. The existence of gross security issues is observed to significantly affect the efficiency and productivity of the retail institutions while it also tends to affect the level of customer satisfaction and experience(Vallabhaneni, 2013). The research project thus potentially focuses on understanding and reflecting on the different types of security issues concerning online and electronic commerce while also focuses on generating effective solutions thereof. Outcome of the Research Project The research activity focuses on generating different outcomes associated with the undertaking of the research project. The conducting of the research project would contribute in understanding the different types of e-commerce applications in retail It would also help in understanding and reflecting on the different benefits and challenges associated with the application of e-commerce in the retail sphere. Finally, the research activity would also help in highlighting the different solutions that can be brought about for reducing the impacts of e-commerce problems in retail activities. E-Commerce Development in Retail The development and growth of e-commerce in the retail can be effectively evaluated concerning the growth of e-commerce and online retail sales in the European retail sector. The amount of online retail sales in Europe is taken to amount to Euros 191 billion by the close of 2017 from Euros 112 billion during 2012. The growth in the amount of online retail sales along the five year period is taken to achieve a compounded growth rate of around 11 percent. The online and e-commerce retailing activity is taken to govern a significant share of the total retail sales pertaining to different European regions like United Kingdom, Germany and France along the stated period. The growth of online retailing activity pertaining to different European regions compared along two periods 2012 and 2017 are reflected as follows. The e-commerce potential of the retail institutions is evaluated in terms of the level of attractiveness, infrastructural potential and other developments in the regulatory and retailing aspects(In, 2016). The growth and development of internet usage along different markets both Asian and European has largely contributed in the growth of e-commerce oriented retailing activity. Internet usage among the Asian consumers is observed to gain a significant increase compared to other retail consumers residing along European and North American markets. Subsequently the development and growth of broadband retailing activity contributed in easier and faster downloads that in turn helped in the successful of e-commerce and e-tailing websites. Along with the development of e-commerce and online retailing the level of security concerns gained emphasis that accounted for bringing about needed security solutions. Subsequently the development of mobile commerce generated an extended arm to the growth of e-commerce and online commerce(Fernie, Fernie, Moore, 2015). Benefits/Advantages of E-Commerce Development in Retail The development and growth of electronic commerce and online retailing is evaluated to generate potential benefits to customers. Customers earned benefits owing to the existence of lower prices generated by retailers with also the generation of large number of product choices. Similarly, the development and growth of online commerce and retailing also contributed in helping the retail institutions gain effective access to foreign markets and in gaining higher retail productivity. Growth and development of online retailing also accounting for generation of sustainable and greener retailing with also the generation of optimized solutions regarding delivery of products thereby benefiting the larger society. Similarly, the advent of e-commerce and online retailing also helps in enhancing the competitive edge of the retail institutions associated with the generation of effective customer services and also in the generation of a seamless retailing platform enabling greater communication(Cr ew Brennan, 2014). Development of online retailing activity potentially contributes in helping the customers earn greater visibility to product catalogues while it also helps the retail institutions in generating greater control over sales and purchases activity conducted through the use of the online platform. Like customers the retailers can also earn cost advantages in terms of reduction in level of inventory management costs while operating based on the online framework. Online retailing activities also contribute in generation of increased brand awareness for the products and services while also helping the retailers gain and evaluate information associated to purchasing and shopping habits of customers(Management Association, 2017). Problems/Challenges associated with E-Commerce Development in Retail The development and use of electronic commerce activity in the retail sphere though tends to reflect potential advantages yet it reflects the existence of potential challenges underlined as follows. The e-commerce companies suffer from increasing threat associated to the lack of effective verification measures. The retail institutions only earn a limited amount of information associated to customers for which they fail to ascertain the authenticity level of customers. The same accounts for increased revenue losses for the e-commerce companies in cases where the customers turn out to be false in nature(Wei, 2014). Returns generated by customers account for increased amount of costs associated to shipment and logistics. It also affects the brand value of the retail institutions. Again, lack of effective integration between different systems like order management, customer support, dispatch and also order tracking tends to affect the effectiveness of the services provided to customers. It thereby affects the level of customer satisfaction and experiences(Paulos, 2015). The retail institutions involved in the generation of online retailing activity are observed to suffer from a potential challenge owing to growth in the level of switching costs. It is observed that around 86 percent of customers tend to shift from one e-commerce Company to another in search for better and prompt services in a seamless setting, existence of large number of product assortments and also existence of effective discounts. The online retailing services are also observed to suffer from the incidence of potential security threats owing to reduction of cyber security and growth of hacking activities like teardrop attacks, attacks concerning brute force, plashing and also the Denial of Service (DOS) attacks. The incidence of DOS attacks affects the normal operations and the server(Rezaei, 2017). Solutions to Problems concerning E-Commerce Development in Retail The authentication issues concerning customers can be aptly addressed by the retail institutions through the generation of textual and e-mail messages to them. Likewise the generation of Interactive Voice Response (IVR) by the retail institutions can further enhance the level of authentication in case of cash-on-delivery orders. Development of an effective seamless platform contributes in helping the retail institutions sustain potential relationship with logistics partners, vendor firms and customers. The same helps in effective management of customer returns. Incorporation of the right quality of customer servicing and customer management systems potentially helps the retail institutions in sustaining effective relationship with the customers and also in addressing their queries and complaints in an effective and responsive fashion(Vallabhaneni, 2013). The e-commerce companies are required to operate in terms of involving the parameters of innovation in their services and product portfolio such that the same helps in both attracting and retaining potential customers. The development of apps for Smartphones and tabs contribute in generation of a seamless environment for servicing consumer needs. Similarly, the estimation of customer retention scores also contribute in effective understanding of the feasibility of the customer servicing platforms and thereby in generating effective recommendations thereof(Al-Hamami, 2014). Incorporation of the Security Sockets Layer (SSL) acts as an effective multiple security measure and two-factor level of authentication serves as a potential solution to the security problem concerning e-commerce applications. Similarly, the incorporation of effective payment options like credit cards and other alternative methods like Bitcoin and also cryptocurrencies further contribute in reducing the level of threat emerging from vulnerability of use of credit and debit cards(Ghosh, 2012). Research Paradigm The research is to be conducted based on the employment of both Interpretivism and also the use of Positivism research philosophy. Employment of Interpretivism research paradigm requires the researcher for development of unstructured or open ended questionnaires such that the same would contribute in generation of in-depth inferences in a narrative and qualitative fashion. An elucidated understanding would be gained based on the different problems associated with the e-commerce incorporation in retail and also effective solutions to such. The inferences gained based on the use of interpretivism research being elucidatory are qualitative in nature and would potentially address the research objectives (Hussein, 2009). The employment of Positivism research philosophy requires the researcher to focus on the development of structured or close ended questionnaires such that the same contributes in the generation of specific and quantitative inferences. Further, positivism research encourages the researcher for incorporating statistical and other diagrammatic tests involving graphs and charts for generation and elucidation of quantitative inferences. It would contribute in addressing the research hypotheses (Hammer, 2015). Research Technique In terms of research technique the research activity potentially focuses on the incorporation of both inductive and deductive research techniques. Incorporation of Inductive Research technique management the researcher to study a number of different books, journals and other online articles available in association with the research issue. The study of different literary sources contributes in the development of theoretical models and aspects that in turn generates novel theories relating to the research issue. Empirical research carried out through the study of theories and models contributes in development of a conceptual model associated to the understanding of the problems and its impacts regarding e-commerce applications in retail business (Gioia, Corley, Hamilton, 2013). Application of deductive research technique requires the researcher to develop research hypotheses and thereby focus on the incorporation of quantitative research tools like statistical and diagrammatic tools for proving the research hypotheses thus constructed. Use of deductive research technique contributes in the generation of specific research inferences (Cortina, Aguinis, DeShon, 2017). Research Design The research activity associated with the understanding of the problems and the impact of problems regarding e-commerce application in retail business is focused on being conducted through the use of different types of research designs like secondary, primary and triangulated research. The employment of secondary research requires the researcher to study different secondary literary sources like books, journals and other online articles associated to the research topic. Application of secondary research helps the researcher to gain access to qualitative resources in a timely fashion and also in a cost effective manner. It also helps in the gaining of authentic and empirical inferences associated with the research issue (Parker, Morgeson, Johns, 2017). Application of primary research requires the researcher to focus on the development of unstructured and structured questionnaire sets for conducting of interviews and survey respectively. The conducting of interviews associated to focus groups potentially contributes in the generation of qualitative data and narrative inferences highlighting the perceptions of the respondents regarding the research issue. Survey activity is conducted through surveying a large population of respondents such that it helps in the generation of specific and quantitative inferences that would help in addressing the research hypotheses. Conducting of primary research though contributes in the generation of current inferences yet is observed to be both costly in nature and also that which requires greater time (Venable, Pries-Heje, Baskerville, 2016). Finally, the combination of both qualitative and quantitative research aspects reflects on the application of triangulated research. The application of triangulated research contributes in enhancing the quality of the research activity and generation of both elucidatory and specific inferences associated with the research issue (Wolf Floyd, 2013). Data Collection Data collection associated with the interview research activity requires the researcher to focus on the incorporation of effective quality microphones and also pen and paper for collection of interview transcripts associated to the research issue. Further, data collection associated to interview based research also requires the development of unstructured questionnaire that contributes in undertaking of interview of focused group respondents (Wright, Wahoush, Gabel, Jack, 2016). Again, data collection associated to survey research activity requires the development of structured questionnaire sets that would help in the conducting of survey and generation of specific and quantitative research inferences. The structured questionnaire sets are distributed through the use of physical and online mailing system and also through the use of survey monkey as an online data collection tool (McCarthy, Wagner, Sanders, 2017). Sampling The requirement for development of focused groups regarding the conducting of interview requires the application of non-probability sampling styles like the convenience sampling style for collection of sample respondents. The convenience sampling technique would contribute in the generation of a sampling population encompassing around 20 managerial respondents from the middle and higher managerial level in the retail industries. It would help in the selection of managerial respondents in a random fashion from a larger population of managerial respondents (Etikan, Musa, Sunus, 2016). Again, the sample population for the conducting of survey activity would require the use of probability sampling styles like the stratified random sampling approach. The application of stratified random sampling requires the researcher for collection of sample respondents in a random fashion from two different strata sets like staffs and customers of retail institutions and enterprises. A total of 100 respondents would be chosen from the two strata sets for the generation of the survey population. Application of the stratified random sampling style potentially helps in reduction of emergence of sampling errors as is observed in case of use of simple random approach of sampling (Cekim Kadilar, 2017). Data Analysis The collection of qualitative data sets associated to the research issue requires the researcher to focus on the generation of codes through the identification of words and phrases that help in highlighting different themes like e-commerce, retail institutions and stores, application of e-commerce in retail, problems and benefits of e-commerce application in retail and solutions to problems regarding e-commerce application in retail. Generation of different codes rightly helps in evaluating relationship and association between the different codes and thereby in finding qualitative correlation between such for addressing the research objectives (Gioia, Corley, Hamilton, 2013). On the contrary, the collection of quantitative data sets associated to the research issue requires the tabulation of the quantitative data sets in excel and thereby in incorporating statistical and diagrammatic tools for gaining of needful inferences. A five point likert scale is required to be developed associated with the different structured questionnaires such that potential responses in the form of percentage of responses associated to the different themes would be gained and tabulated in excel sheet for being subjected to statistical and diagrammatic tools. The quantitative inferences thus gained would be reflected in the form of charts and graphs for helping in effectively addressing the research objectives (Wright, Wahoush, Gabel, Jack, 2016). Research Ethics The undertaking of focused interviews and survey activity requires the researcher for aptly meeting the objectives of research ethics. The researcher is required to firstly let the respondents understand the rationale behind conducting the research activity. The respondents are required to understand the manner in which the research conducted would help in generating needed awareness regarding problems concerning application of e-commerce to retail business and solutions to be generated thereof. Understanding the rationale regarding conducting of the research activity would contribute in the generation of needed support and also in the gaining of needful inferences for fulfilling the research questions and objectives (Graf, 2017). Further, the researcher is also required to ideally reflect and generate a written statement to the respondents stating that the personal information of the respondents and also the inferences generated by them would not be published in a printed and online fashion without gaining due permission from them. The same would help in enhancing the level of trust and commitment of the respondents regarding generation of potential and effective inferences for aptly addressing the research topic (Graf, 2017). Organization of the Study The research study is organised in terms of different steps highlighted as follows. The study is initiated in terms of highlighting the problem statement concerning the conducting of the research. It would then highlight on the different aims and objectives concerning conducting of the research activity with also reflecting on the research questions. Further, an empirical research based activity is required to be constructed through the involvement of different literary aspects concerning study of books, journals and other online literary sources such that the same would contribute in the generation of a conceptual diagram. Subsequently research hypotheses is constructed while methodological aspects concerning the conducting of the research is required to be formulated for gaining of effective inferences for addressing the research issue. The study also focuses on highlighting the cost and time required for conducting the research. Project Budget The project budget for carrying out the research activity is rendered as follows. Task Contents Budget Identification of Problem Statement and Research Objectives Identifying the problem for which the research activity is generated. Generation of research objectives in bullet form $50 Empirical Research and Literature Review Carry out research through consultation of journals, books and other online articles associated to e-commerce and online retailing $200 Development of Conceptual Framework Development of a Conceptual Model based on Inferences gained from Empirical Research $100 Formulation of Research Methodology Identification of research methods, designs, techniques, process of data collection and sampling and also techniques for conducting data analysis. $300 Total Cost $650 Project Schedule The project schedule is reflected in the form of a Gantt Chart rendered as follows.
